Nikki's 2nd Chance Endowed Scholarship
A Family’s Loss Becomes a Spark to Help Others
Nikki Kominsky was only 20 years old when she died in February 2009. She was a sharing and sweet soul who would go out of her way to help anybody else, but did not make good decisions to take care of herself.
Although Nikki’s family and friends were devastated by losing her at such a young age, they wanted to do something to create a lasting legacy in her name, Nikki’s sister, Jen McCune, wanted to honor her sister’s memory by establishing the Nikki’s 2nd Chance Scholarship fund. The purpose of this scholarship is to help support students with the second chance that Nikki never got because financial and transportation barriers kept her from attending college.
In the years that have followed, family and friends, under Jen’s direction, have worked very hard to raise enough funding to endow Nikki’s Scholarship so that this fund could help Westmoreland students forever!
